In 2013, American recording artist Donald Glover released the Hip Hop album Because the Internet.

A nod to his talents as an actor, comedian, writer, producer, and director he wrote and published a short film titled “Clapping for the Wrong Reasons” and screenplay to go along with the album.

In the screenplay there is a motif of the word “roscoe’s wetsuit” which the main charachter named “The Boy” originally sees in a tweet.

After seeing it in the tweet, it then seems to seep into his actions (it is referenced when he puts on his wetsuit before deciding if he is going into the water at the beach).

Then it appears again spray painted on the sidewalk.

Appearance of the Phrase Roscoe’s Wetsuit

“…someone tweeted “roscoe’s wetsuit”

“…what’s that?”

The Boy drops “roscoe’s wetsuit” into Google. A Yahoo answer comes up for it. The answer to “what is roscoe’s wetsuit?” is…”roscoe’s wetsuit”. Hilarious”

— Because the internet Screenplay

EXT. BEACH — MORNING
Sasha carries her board onto the beach. The Boy is sitting there

SASHA: You goin in?
THE BOY: Don’t know yet
SASHA: Then why’d you put on your wetsuit?

…roscoe’s wetsuit

THE BOY: Everyone else was
SASHA: That’s an awful reason”
