My Campaign To Get My Grandma To Her First Yankees Game
The above picture is the artwork that my friend and I created as a part of my submission for a contest that the New York Yankees held for the fourth of July. The contest was called #MyJudgesChambers, participants were to submit in original works of art “inspired” by Aaron Judge for a chance to sit in the Judge’s Chambers cheering section at Yankee Stadium on the Fourth of July.
My Grandma has never been to a game so I decided to take part and campaign to get her to a game. I thought it would be a pretty cool story if all of these things kind of came together.
I wanted to be more creative. I am an okay drawer but I knew that my music and my ability to design art on the computer would be a unique combo that could give me a chance. So I recorded a song to the instrumental Kenny Lofton by J. Cole:
In addition to that one of my good friends took a photograph of me while I was recording the song and I used that as the cover. But in order to add an additonal touch I designed a logo on the computer:
I did research into the rules and realized that I could not use the song as a part of my submission so I did not submit the music and only submitted the image. Ultimately I wasn’t chosen. So I recorded another song talking about how we will be attending a game with my Grandma soon, but talking about how the Mets will be my favorite team for now on. Because my Grandma picked the Yankees to be her team when she was young, and they didn’t pick her to go to a game and make an amazing story out of it.
The below explains it more, and the final song is on my IG page thebookkeepersjournal
