Numbers People (Accountant’s) Speak A Different Language
The state of information today is a curious one.
Complete and accurate information is hard to find.
One of the drawbacks of being able to easily post your opinions on a topic is that anyone can easily post or write about a topic.
Which by definition means that everyone that shares will not be fully qualified to draw conclusions on complex topics. So when you are learning you have to be aware, am I being presented information in a way that will allow me to synthesize it all later on. This is especially true because you are not sure who is actually reading the post and what their knowledge level is.
Even more curious is that the only way to really understand whether or not someone is speaking accurately about a topic is to fully understand the topic yourself, or at least be able to follow logic appropriately. To follow logic they have to be clear writers. And so ultimately we get back to where we started. (Side note I believe that is how you know you have fully thought through an idea, but at any rate).
Nuanced information is only understood through context. Context is achieved through experience with/in a topic. Evan Williams CEO of Medium hit the nail on the head in his post entitled “A mile wide, an inch deep”
